FAQs

Who is eligible for the GlobalCare international health insurance policy?
Clements’ international health plan is available to expatriates residing outside their country of citizenship for at least 6 months per year, and who are under 75 years old.

When should I apply for coverage?
Clements recommends that you submit your application 3-4 weeks before you need the insurance to start. The underwriting process for medical insurance can take a few weeks to complete. What is the procedure for obtaining GlobalCare international health insurance?
A completed application is required (submitted online or by post). Following approval, you should receive your policy documents within in a week.

Does GlobalCare provide medical coverage in the United States and Canada?
Clements’ GlobalCare Plus plan includes US coverage for temporary visits, as long as you are not currently a resident of the U.S.

What is a ‘deductible’? What are the deductible choices with GlobalCare?
The ‘deductible’, or ‘excess’, is the out-of-pocket contribution that each policy member is required to pay - in a calendar year - before benefits commence. GlobalCare offers a choice of deductibles, ranging from $250 to $5,000. The higher the excess, the lower the premium.

Can I keep my GlobalCare coverage if I leave my job or move to another country?
Yes. GlobalCare plans are portable. As a GlobalCare policyholder, you will be covered even if you leave your job, or move to another country other than your country of citizenship, and excluding the U.S. and Canada.

If I need medical treatment, does GlobalCare provide advance guarantee of payment?
Yes. GlobalCare offers guarantee of payment for a hospital visit or a medical procedure. This is arranged ahead of time with our claims department. You have the freedom to choose any licensed provider in the world. Alternatively, we have a network of recommended providers available to you.

How do I make a claim?
We have an electronic claims system, so that you do not have to mail original invoices or receipts to our claims department. Also, multilingual claims specialists are available to speak to you on a 24/7 basis.

Does GlobalCare international health insurance cover pre-existing conditions?
Treatment for a medical condition for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received in the last 2 years, before purchasing a GlobalCare policy, are generally considered pre-existing. A GlobalCare policy can be issued to individuals with pre-existing conditions, except that those conditions may not be covered.
